Behind the title “Made in Barcelona” (“Hecho en Barcelona” in Spanish) we want to create a space where the fashion from the catalan city is the main protagonist. With this target, we will cover all those events related with the textile sector, a sector which has been working really well this last years in Barcelona. The events will go from the most important ones, like the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week, to others like the opening of little shops of designers from Barcelona who are, for now, still unknown.
I was born and I live in Barcelona. I’m a student of
Journalism and Humanities at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Pompeu Fabra
University). I like fashion. For me it is a hobby and a form of expression but,
above all, it is an art. What fascinates me the most about it is its creation,
everything that entails the creative process. That’s why I dedicate my free time
to attend a dressmaking course. Wearing an exclusive or artisanal made piece of
clothing is almost impossible nowadays. I guess that’s what drove my desire to
design my own closet. Now I mix my two vocations in this blog in order to talk
about the fashion in my city from a journalistic point of view.
ELENA
My name is Elena Darriba, I am 19 years old and I’m from
St. Feliu de Guíxols (Girona). I study Journalism and Humanities at the
Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. Fashion isn’t any of my passions, but I
do am interested in the sewing world and in the work made in the ateliers,
mainly because I think they’re disappearing in front of the huge textile multinationals,
which sew their collections in big factories.
All my interests are related to art. I love cinema, literature,
music… And I could say that the thing I love the most in this world is spending
time at the beach (I guess because I’m from the Costa Brava).
NATALIA
My name is Natalia
Garcia Ariño, I’m 19 years old and I am a Journalism and Humanities student at the
Universitat Pompeu Fabra. In an urban context with as much activity as the one
in Barcelona, you can find practically anything in the streets, a fact that fascinates
me as it allows me to observe the most diverse fashion tendencies from a
critical point of view. I could say I enjoy everything related with fashion:
photography, modeling, styling, make-up, hairdressing… For this reason, I’ve
worked in sessions as a non-professional model and I have always thought about
taking my studies to the photography world. I don’t know how far I’ll be able
to push my passions, but I’ll be trying. You cannot let your dreams escape.
