The spring-summer “Colección Tejana” (“Denim collection”), elaborated by prisoners of the catalan jails, was exposed in the Expohogar salon, celebrated this past January 2014 in Montjuïc, Barcelona. El Centro de Iniciativas para la Reinserción (CIRE), the public company of the Departamento de Justicia de la Generalitat which takes care of the working initiatives in jails, presented in Barcelona the prisoners’ creations. A part from the “Colección Tejana” (composed by a basket, a bag and a pirate hat), this creations also included aprons, bags and scarves.

According to the justice department, this creations’ target is making the works executed by the interns in the catalan prisons gain visibility and prestige.

The CIRE also presented a denim collection for the kitchen, “Colección Tejana Cocina”, some complements for the summer season, and some pieces created specifically for Sant Jordi’s festivity as fabric roses with the catalan flag pattern or bookmarkers. The roses were hand-crafted by the women interns in the Centro Penitenciario de Mujeres de Barcelona (a women’s prison in Barcelona).
